A Beach Wedding at Honeymoon Island
There’s something undeniably special about small, heartfelt weddings, and Carrie and Brett’s intimate celebration at Honeymoon Island State Park was the perfect example of that. With the gentle sounds of waves meeting the shore and the golden Florida sun casting a soft glow, their destination wedding unfolded in the most beautiful, meaningful way.
Traveling from out of state, Carrie and Brett gathered with around 30 of their closest family and friends for a day that was focused entirely on connection, love, and togetherness. The ceremony took place right on the beach, with Honeymoon Island’s staff creating a stunning setup that blended effortlessly with the natural surroundings. A beautiful wooden cross stood at the end of the sandy aisle, flanked by lush greenery and delicate white chairs—simple, elegant, and perfect for the serene coastal setting.
Before the ceremony, I spent time capturing all the thoughtful details that Carrie and Brett had chosen to make the space feel personal and warm. It was during this time I met Brett, who was quietly taking in the day. Like many grooms, there was a little bit of nervous energy in the air, but mostly you could tell how excited he was to see his bride.
The ceremony was led by Joel Kaplan, an officiant I’ve worked with before and always enjoy photographing. Joel has a way of making each ceremony feel personal and sincere, and Carrie and Brett’s was no exception. One of the most touching moments was when Carrie’s daughter walked her down the aisle—a beautiful testament to the blending of their family and the love that surrounded them.
The ceremony itself was sweet and intimate, lasting about 15 minutes, but those moments were filled with so much meaning and emotion. Afterward, we gathered everyone for a full group photo on the beach—a tradition I always love, especially at these smaller weddings where every guest is truly part of the couple’s inner circle.
Following that, I had a few quiet moments with Carrie and Brett along the water’s edge. The light was soft, the breeze was gentle, and the two of them looked completely at peace as newlyweds. It was one of those days that reminded me why I love photographing these kinds of celebrations—the ones that are all about heart and connection, with no distractions.
Carrie and Brett’s Honeymoon Island wedding was simple, soulful, and overflowing with love. I feel so honored to have been the one to document it.
